These pictures were taken of the Mississippi Queen as she churned up the Ohio River
between The Racine Locks & Dams, and The Belleville Locks & Dams.
We took pictures of her locking through at Belleville.

Here she comes!
Pic taken from the Pizza Barn in the rain

She's moving fast upriver toward Belleville Locks & Dams

We spotted her for the first time speeding past Long Bottom Post Office

We had to rush home and get the camera!

We barely made it to the Pizza Barn before she appeared

For some reason this boat was in a big hurry

I've never seen a boat move so fast upriver!

There she goes!
Next stop, Belleville Locks & Dams

Looking down from the visitors tower on one of the large leaking gates

Looking upriver beyond the gate at the higher water level

Looking down-river now at the gate where we hope the boat will enter

A View across both channels where boats can lock through

Another view of the near & far channel, looking upriver at the higher water level

HERE SHE COMES!
Hope she uses the channel nearest to us!

She's getting closer and finally slowing down!

She should come through this channel since it is shorter. The far one is longer, reserved for barges

RATS!
They're bringing her through the far channel!

Oh well, we'll still get a good look at her, when they raise the water level

Click above for more pics of The Mississippi Queen lowering her smokestacks to prevent them from hitting the overhead cement structure, once the water level is raised under her.  You can also see the smoke from the calliope playing as she is slowly elevated.
